As I do more work in this space, my sense of which tools work better than others is improving based on my experiences in diverse situations and contexts. This is also changing my stance on my role this work and how I can best support teams in this space.
As such, I've updated the set of canvases that I use most often to help teams with sensemaking and design work in complex adaptive systems. You can download them here. They are also the ones I use in my learning-via-doing Systems Innovation Lab.
This updated set has been inspired by the thinking in the Design Journeys through Complex Systems book; Sharpe, Hodgson, Leicester, Lyon, and Fazey's Three Horizons Pathway Practise, OECD Observatory for Public Sector Innovation's Innovation Facets; Stanford Change Labs' behaviour change work and Cynefin Co's fascinating Estuarine Framework.
The canvas set now includes:
Backcasting from a bold vision
Seeing the System: System-centred and human-centred
System dynamics
System transition responses
Organisation protocols

I appreciate you sharing your tool kit, it's a wonderful grouping of papers and activities that I can put to use. Thank you!
